What Does It Cost to Hire a Workers’ Comp Lawyer in Georgia?

Workers’ Comp Lawyer

If you are injured, out of work and need workers’ compensation benefits to pay the bills, it’s natural to worry about the cost of hiring a lawyer to assist with your claim. But you don’t have to be worried.

The workers’ compensation lawyers of Parsons & Associates, P.C., do not take money out of the pockets of the injured and ill clients who we assist. Our fees for the legal work we do for you will be based on the compensation we obtain for you through the Georgia Workers’ Compensation Board. If we don’t obtain money for you, we don’t get paid.

Contact Parsons & Associates at our offices in Atlanta or Savannah to set up a free meeting to discuss your workers’ comp claim.

We Don’t Charge Up-Front Fees to Workers’ Comp Claimants

Georgia’s workers’ compensation laws hold that legal fees paid to attorneys who assist with workers’ comp claims are subject to approval by the State Board of Workers’ Compensation if they are greater than $100. In addition, the maximum that can be approved is 25 percent of the income benefits received, not to exceed 400 weeks of benefits.

Workers’ compensation benefits include payments to reimburse the worker for all related medical expenses. These are not included in the calculation of legal fees.

Your retainer agreement with Parsons & Associates will set out the percentage of the workers’ compensation income benefit that will go to us as a legal fee. You may also be responsible for paying certain expenses associated with pursuing your claim. This will be what’s known as a “contingency-fee agreement,” meaning any fee to us will be dependent on us obtaining a benefit award for you.

If you do not receive a payment, neither will we. This gives us extra incentive to ensure that your workers’ compensation settlement includes every dollar available to you.

Filing for and obtaining workers’ compensation benefits can be complicated and stressful, particularly for someone who is also dealing with a disabling injury or illness. You are not required to have an attorney to seek workers’ compensation, but having a lawyer from Parsons & Associates on your case takes the burden off of you. If your employer is disputing your claim, you can be sure they will have an attorney fighting for them.
